Purchase Order Processing - PO Message Codes

 

Function

Use this task to create, modify, or delete any message codes required for purchase orders. Messages may be used for tracking purchasing or calling attention to special situations, etc. Messages appear on purchase orders and requisitions.

 

=> To access this task...

Select PO Message Codes from the Inquiry and Maintenance menu.

About the Fields

 

To enable edits to the form select  .

 

In the PO Standard Message field...

  • Enter a valid 1 to 3 character message code.

  • Click the Record Query button Query button  to select from a list of message codes.

  • Click the record navigating buttons; to view the first record, Previous Record button to view the previous record, to view the next record and to view the last record.

In the Description field...

  • Displays the description of the message code selected.

  • If creating a new code, enter a description of the code.

From the Message Type dropdown...

  • Select Requisition (R) to include this message on requisitions.

  • Select PO (P) to include this message on purchase orders.

  • Select Both (B) to include this message on both purchase orders and requisitions.

  • Select None (N) if the message is not to be included.

Code Inactive? checkbox...

  • Mark the box to render this message inactive.

  • Unmark the box to indicate that this is an active message code.

In the Message Text field...

  • To enable edits to the message text select . In edit mode, select Click to launch the message text form.

  • Messages appear on purchase orders and requisitions.

When done making selections:

  • Click Save button to save the record.

  • Click Clear Form button to clear entries on the form and begin again.

 

Closing an unsaved record will issue the prompt:

  • Select [Yes] to save the changes.

  • Select [No] to return to the form.
